Hello again guys!

Hehe, Playing with my tablet for the first time in years!  Anyway...

Looking through messages made me sad, I suddenly realized how many people have  left deviant ART, so sad

But the point of this journal (aside from me being incredibly bored) is because I think l'm almost done with one of my images, although I keep making changes! lol  A picture of an orca and a ray! I drew it a little while ago (first orca doodle in way too long!) and started editing, not intentionally doing anything any different than usual and as I started decided I wanted to attempt more realistic shading...

So right now I want to say a huge thank you to for that tutorial you did for your Tilikum image, my image is nothing like that (and not very 3D I'm afraid) but I'd never before used the pen tool or different colours to shade and agree, so much better than the dodge and burn tool! So thank you!

But going back to what I was saying, I did the shading and stuff and was fairly happy with it, then used the pen tool again afterwards because I still wasn't 100% happy with the shaping of the nose and stuff, then I suddenly found myself reshaping the whole face and moving bits around! Never before have I done this! My orcas aren't realistic at all, I know their shape is wrong but they're cartoons so it never bothered me...but after playing, the transformation is pretty cool in my opinion! Looks so much better now! I still don't think it's 100% but it's a start! I think my doodles may change after this is complete!

The transformation, been a few lil changes while shading the new bit but I don't wanna show that shaded yet! The jaw isn't so square now and I change the pectoral fin, it's not so round any more!

So what you guys think of the change? Any advice? Anything you think I should change?

I realize it's been almost 3 years since I last posted anything! Really had no idea it'd been that long! Bout time for an update don't you think?

So since my last post I have been concentrating more on my photography than anything else, and even those haven't been going on my other account like they should! But in the past few years I've found very little time to draw, maybe the odd doodle here and there but none ever got to editing stage!

So in the past 3 years, I finished college with D*DD, and I am currently at uni (going into my 2nd year) studying Marine & Natural History Photography! The uni is about 8hrs drive from home, but it's the only place in Europe to do this course! Basically it's photography anything and everything natural! And the Marine part...that's what makes this course so unique! I traveled to Malta and completed two levels of diving and now with the course we do a few UK dives with proper underwater cameras! It's so amazing! I never imagined I'd learn to dive, and doing it, one of the most amazing things I have ever done! I'm not too great with taking underwater photos yet, but I'm still new to it.

BUT anyway...

I recently moved into my house for my 2nd year and having no job yet and currently no lectures I try and find ways to keep busy! Well I broke my laptop charger a few days ago and had to go a while without my laptop, so I spent a whole day in the sitting room watching a load of underwater documentaries! I started with Ocean Giants, got about 5mins in and that was it, I NEEDED a pencil and some paper! And I'm glad I did, it felt so good to doodle again!

I doodled my first Bowhead (just the head), a couple of spotted dolphins, a sperm whale, a diving humpback, narwhals (again only heads but omg, they're hard! more practice needed!!!) and of course an orca picture! This orca picture however wasn't the usual "oh it's just a random orca swimming along" doodle, it's of a group watching a stingray...yes that was on one of the documentaries so I drew it!

Often these doodles would just get put away and forgotten about but having very little else to do I have begun editing! We-hey! Hopefully they'll be finished before I start uni again and I can share them!


I don't know who's still here, who's left, I have a lot of messages to go through so sorry if anyone's spoken to me and gotten no reply! How are all of you who're still here? You all well? All enjoying life?

The xmas drawing is on its way...but I doubt it'll be ready for tomorrow! So it'll be after xmas unfortunately!

There have been several problems which caused this to be delayed.

The first is that I honestly could not draw properly for a few weeks, even these drawings aren't as good as I used to do I've looked at almost every picture of orcas on google to help me out, but it didn't help much

My younger sister has also been ill for about a week now which has delayed everything I've wanted to do. She's got a severe ear infection, they even said they should take a sample and send it off for testing but because of the time of year it'd take at least a week...so she's got 2 different ear drops in the hope 1 of them might work! On top of that she also has the beginning of a chest infection and has a bad cold too! She was also coughing up blood yesterday which was pretty scary. Her list of medicines are ibuprofen, antibiotics, 2 ear drops and nose drops! So I've been trying to keep her happy.

And linked to the last reason, because it's xmas my nan is staying with us, so I've had my sister sleeping in my room with me. She takes up my whole double bed most nights so I end up sleepin on my hard floor, or she'll sleep on the floor and keep me awake all night with her coughing! And on rare nights when we can both get into the bed I'm awake most of the night because it's too hot! So I'm not getting much sleep most nights!

Funny that last one, my thoughts on the last day at college were "yay! I have 3 weeks to catch up on my sleep!" but if anything I'm getting less sleep!

So I am working on the picture, I'm almost half-way at the moment! I doubt I'll get much time to do any tomorrow considering it's xmas day so it'll be busy and I'll have new toys to play with I might be able to do some boxing day but I'm away on the 27th and 28th. Hopefully it will be done in time for the New Year!

Working today (Boxing Day) failed, when you get a special book you've wanted since Feb and your very own SLR camera you kinda forget things like work! Spent the whole day reading and snapping...oh and I cleaned my fish tank

Fed up with my own excuses and with not doing any drawing!!! I want to draw! I don't know if I still can but I am going to try! I am setting myself a goal to complate at least 1 orca picture by/for christmas!!! There are so many characters I never uploaded pictures of, I cant even remember half of their designs! I guess I'm gonna be changing them all again...I did have too many anyway

So, I had something like 30 I think...may'be I'll try cutting it down to 10! If I can! Kianna and Isra have to stay! I love those girls and of course Reika isn't going anywhere...unless I die and Eliseo and Kama too! I need parents! I like Saxon too much to get rid of him...although I think Kishi and Makoto are going to go bye-byes though Touten and Articon can stay too, they're too sexy to go And I suppose Season too...need that sweet lil albino

...so thats 9 already...ok maybe I'll go to 12 then, of 15

If I do not complete this picture by Christmas I will allow you all to stalk me and beat me with a plank of wood and throw anything you like at me, yes ANYTHING!

*sigh* It's clearly been too long! I forgot what the belly of an orca looks like for a start! That's bad I'm having to use pictures for reference again because I can't visualize an orca in my head any more Either that or it's just because I'm so tired!

I'm also getting stuck on tails again, like when I started and I turned them all into spirits instead...don't wanna go back to doing that again

I think I might have to start visiting the Shamu Cam again, that helps quite a lot! ...although it's not gonna be the same without Sumar

I need to stop making excuses, but I haven't been arty at all lately. My second year of college was crazy, and now it's over my life seems to be falling apart...but I don't need to explain all of that...

I just haven't felt the urge to draw for a very long time, I admit I did try yesterday and failed miserably! =/ I'd love to get back into the habbit of drawing but I don't think it's going to happen! I don't even come on here as often as I used to...my account on here is pretty pointless at the moment!

Anyway, I found a picture I drew a few months ago (around christmas I think it was). It was an attempt to modernize my Am I Still Your Petal picture, and to be honest I'm quite happy with it. I thought yesterday I'd finally put it into photoshop and do something with it. It's the first time I've used photoshop in a looong time, so I knew it would never come out amazing. It came out better than I expected though. So thought I'd better upload that...but that will probably be all you see for a long time.

Other than that and my crazy school life issues nothing much has happened. I had my 18th over 2 months ago. Did nothing really on my birthday but went to see The Phantom Of The Opera in the theatre the day after with 3 friends which was good I went and saw 30 Seconds To Mars, one of my favourite bands, on the 23rd Feb. My first concert and I loved it so much I'm seeing them again in November! x) Really isn't much more to report!
